Proton and carbon-ion therapy

Radiotherapy using charged particles that stop at the tumor, giving less radiation to the tissue beyond it. Proton beam therapy uses protons instead of X-rays. Protons release most of their energy at a set depth and then stop, which can lower the dose to healthy tissue behind the tumor.
