PET-CT scan and staging

A combined scan that shows how active tissues are, used to find out how far a cancer has spread. A PET-CT scan combines two scans in one sitting. The CT shows the body in detail, and the PET shows how active cells are using a small amount of a radioactive tracer, most often a form of sugar that cancer cells take up quickly.
